Frequently Asked Questions

1. When is the Walk For Life?  Saturday, May 8, 2010  (Mother's Day Weekend)

2. Why Have a Walk For Life?  Because your steps WILL save lives! The monies raised at the Walk For Life will impact over 15,000 women, men, and children in the Pinellas County area each year.  Some of our free services include: Pregnancy tests and Life Coaching, Ultrasounds, Childbirth and Infant Care classes, Maternity clothes & Baby items, Abortion recovery series, and Youth Development programs in Pinellas County Schools

3. How far is the Walk?  The walk is an easy, short 2-mile fun walk!  And it's the most important 2 miles you will ever walk!

4. Where is the Walk?  There are 3 locations in Pinellas County for 2010:  in Clearwater, at Countryside Christian Center; in Largo, at First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks; and in St. Petersburg, at North Shore Park (by the playground)

5. What if I can't walk on that day or at one of the locations?  No problem! You can walk any day, anytime, anyplace - it still counts! Walk around your block, push a baby stroller with a friend, go rollerskating for life, walk to your mailbox 10 times... it all counts!  Then, just mail or fax your completed pledge forms to the Pregnancy Center and we will send you any earned prizes.  (If you're including any collected money, please do not send cash or change through the mail. Please convert it into a check made payable to Walk For Life and send it that way. Thank you)

6. What if it rains?  We will still be walking - bring an umbrella! We'll celebrate in the rain!  If it's a thunderstorm, please see # 5 (above) and we will treat the day accordingly. If you have any questions regarding weather the day of the Walk, call (727) 216-1410 x7 for a pre-recorded message; or visit us online at this website and we'll have news of what to do if it's raining that day.

7. How do I get sponsors?  Simply ask everyone you know... family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, people at your gym, your clubs, and even people you know out of town!  When you ask "Will you sponsor me as I Walk For Life?", 9 out of 10 people will say "yes".

8. Is it a per-mile pledge?  No. All pledges are "flat" amounts; meaning the donation or pledge offered is the total amount. There is no per-mile fee or cost; and this is no fee to sign up or minimum to raise in order to walk either.  And all donations/pledges are tax deductible!

9. Do I have to collect the money?  Not at all. When your sponsor writes their name and address on your pledge form and selects an amount they would like to sponsor you at, the information is collected into a main database and then the Pregnancy Center will send out a reminder pledge invoice to the sponsor's address. They can return their donation with the invoice and it's just that easy! All you have to do is turn in your pledge form (properly marked either paid or pledged), and we'll do the rest!  ...OR, your sponsors can pay online at your own personal fundraising page that you've created through this site at Firstgiving.com   If you DO choose to collect your pledges, or if someone wants to hand you their donation before the Walk, please hang on to it and bring it on Walk Day with your pledge form to turn in at the Walker Check-in table/tent.

10. Can I bring a friend?  Absolutely! If one can do well, then TWO CAN do AMAZING! The Walk is always better with someone you know - invite all your friends, in fact! Better yet... ask your friend(s) to sign up to Walk as well and raise pledges together - then you'll both be saving lives!

11. Can I bring my dog?  Not every site allows dogs on their property. Dogs are welcome at North Shore Park (St. Petersburg) and Countryside Christian Center (Clearwater); but all dogs and other animals need to stay home if you plan to walk at the First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks (Largo).

12. Do I have to belong to a Church group or Team?  Not at all. We want everyone to be able to participate and there is absolutely not set requirement to walk, other than a heart to save babies and change lives! - (and of course, to raise funds to help the Pregnancy Center)

13. Where can I get more pledge sheets if I run out?  You can pick up another pledge sheet/form at your church, in local Family Christian bookstores, or download & print a copy right here!
